Downtown Policy for Taller Buildings Approved

On February 01, 2011, Vancouver City Council followed the recommendations of the City Planning Department and voted to adopt the “Vancouver Views and Opportunities for Taller Buildings in Downtown Vancouver” Policy.
This policy approves seven sites in downtown Vancouver as appropriate for a building taller than that allowed under current zoning.
The Hornby and Drake corner of the Burrard Gateway site is one of the locations now approved for a taller building.
This policy, which also adds four new protected view corridors in downtown Vancouver, is the result of extensive study by City Council and Staff, including a public consultation process that began in 2009.
